Anthony Geary is an actor best known for portraying Luke Spencer on the soap opera General Hospital from 1978-84, 1993-15, 2017. He also portrayed Luke's cousin and doppelgänger, Bill Eckert from 1991-93 and again in 2015.
Geary also portrayed Cesar Faison in 2014 when Faison was disguised as Luke and he portrayed Luke's father, Tim Spencer in 2015.
Biography[]
Geary was born on May 29, 1947 in Coalville, Utah. He studied theater at the University of Utah. Geary guest starred on many TV shows in the 70s, including All in the Family and Partridge Family. In 1978, Geary was hired for a 13 week role on General Hospital as hitman Luke Spencer. He became a fan favorite, and half of the supercouple Luke and Laura.
Geary left General Hospital in 1984, only to return as Luke's look-alike cousin Bill Eckert in 1991. In 1993, he reprised the role of Luke Spencer with the return of Genie Francis as Laura Spencer. In 1998, he made an appearance as Luke Spencer in the General Hospital spin-off Port Charles. Geary maintains a summer and winter hiatus from General Hospital, and has control over Luke's dialogue. He currently lives in Amsterdam when not filming General Hospital. He married his long-time partner Claudio Gama in 2020.[1]
In 2014, during the "Fluke" storyline, Geary portrayed Cesar Faison from December 1-2, 2014 when Faison was disguised as Luke. In 2015, Geary portrayed Luke's father, Tim Spencer.
Geary has won a record eight Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 1982, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2015.
