Despite moderate popularity, it couldn't rival the top-rated CBS show The Edge of Night. The series concluded on March 25, 1966, with a cliffhanger finale where the main character considered suicide. Set in the fictional Queens Point, which was later integrated into the General Hospital universe as a suburb of Port Charles, New York. In General Hospital, characters Patrick Drake and Elizabeth Webber previously owned homes in this suburb.

In 1964, Jessie Brewer from General Hospital reached out to Dr. Dan Garret of The Young Marrieds. Additionally, Doctors George Lyons, Bob Ayres, and Ken Martin from General Hospital made appearances on The Young Marrieds in 1965.
