Dr. Karen Wexler, MD was a fictional character on the popular ABC soap opera General Hospital. Karen debuted in 1992 and ended her time on the show in 2003. She was most recently played by Marie Wilson.
Karen is introduced when she starts to volunteer at a teen hotline program at General Hospital. While she is there she meets Jason, Robin, among others. She and Jason become friends through the program and later begin a romantic relationship. One day at the hospital, she meets Jagger. It is later revealed that Karen doesn't have the best home life. Her mother is an acoholic and is surrounded by men because she thinks she needs a man to support her. Jason invites Karen to the baptism of his cousin to meet his family. Karen goes to the party, but her mother finds the invitation and crashes the party.
Karen and Jason have a hard time forming a relationship despite their very different home lives. In order to fix their relationship, Jason invites Karen to go on a boat ride with him. While on the boat, Karen and Jason have a romantic date. While Karen shares her first kiss with Jason, Jagger sees and soon comes out from the cabin under the boat and reveals that he was there the whole time because he hit his head while fixing the engine. Jagger and Jason get into a fight, but a storm soon hits Port Charles. Karen hears a storm warning on the radio telling all ships to go back home, but it is too late as they are already to far out. When the storm hits, the ship begins to sink so the three of them decide to try to swim to a nearby island.
Karen ends up stranded and is later found by Jason and Jagger. The three of them fight to survive and try to find a way to make it home. One day while on the island, Karen decides to take a bath in a lake. However, what she doesn't know is that Cal Atkins, one of the robbers from Kelly's, was watching from the bushes.
