The Spencers are a fictional family on the American soap opera General Hospital. Supercouple Luke and Laura Spencer are part of this family.
Family history
Background
Pat,[1] Luke and Bobbie Spencer were born in Port Charles. Their father, Tim (mentioned only), was an alcoholic and abuser. Their mother, Lena Eckert Spencer, died of a burst appendix, caused from her beatings by Tim, when Luke was 7 years old, and Bobbie 3.[2] Tim took off, and Luke and Bobbie were sent to live with Tim's sister, Ruby Anderson, in Jacksonville, Florida.[3] Ruby ran a bordello. As teenagers, Ruby had Luke hustle customers, and Bobbie turn tricks. During this time, Bobbie got pregnant, at the age of 16, and gave her daughter up for adoption.
Life back in Port Charles
Bobbie
Bobbie returned to Port Charles in 1977 as a former prostitute turned nurse, and Luke joined her the following year. In 1989, Bobbie adopted a son, Lucas. She married Tony Jones shortly after and adopted his daughter, B.J..[4] B.J. died in 1994, and Tony died in 2006. Prior to Tony's death, Bobbie's daughter, Carly Benson, whom she had while she was a prostitute, arrived in town. She slept with Tony who was separated from Bobbie at the time. She'd eventually get involved with mob boss Sonny Corinthos. Together they had two sons, Michael Corinthos III, who is biologically A.J. Quartermaine's and adopted by Sonny, and Morgan Corinthos. Carly married Jasper Jacks in April 2007, and they had a daughter, Josslyn. Carly later found out that her biological father was not one of Bobbie's johns from her time as a prostitute, but John Durant, a man the same age as her mother for whom Bobbie actually had feelings. Jax and Carly divorced in April 2013.
Luke
Luke married Laura Webber on November 16, 1981. They had a son, Lucky, and a daughter, Lulu. In 1996, Nikolas Cassadine came to town and it was revealed that he was Laura's son from when she had been held captive by Stavros Cassadine. Over the years, Nikolas got closer to the Spencers and became part of the family. Luke and Laura divorced in 2001. Luke then married Tracy Quartermaine in 2005. In 2009, Luke's former lover Holly Sutton returned to town and revealed that Ethan Lovett is their son together, born between Lucky and Lulu. Luke and Tracy were divorced in late 2011.
Nikolas has a son Spencer, whom he named after his brother and sister, with late fiancee Courtney Matthews. Lucky married Elizabeth Webber on October 31, 2005, and together they had three sons: Cameron and Jake, who are Elizabeth's sons from other relationships and were adopted by Lucky, and Aiden. Lucky and Elizabeth were divorced in 2007. Jake died March 22, 2011, and Lucky married Siobhan McKenna on May 6, 2011. Siobhan was murdered on August 22 of that year. On December 23, 2011, Lulu married her boyfriend of 2 1/2 years, Dante Falconeri, and together they have a son named Rocco, who was born in 2013.
